We Get Mail: WW II Veteran Honored

In November, GFA member, Paul Griswold took his family to Ames, Iowa, home of Iowa State University, to participate in a Veteran’s Day Ceremony honoring three graduates who paid the ultimate price for their country.

From Paul:  “Don T. Griswold, was a member of the 1940 graduating class, and one of this year’s honorees. was able to provide some family photos and more details of his life, to be recorded in the University’s archives. I am very grateful to Iowa State University for preserving this piece of history. I know I post about him a lot, but his determination, to carry out his mission, even though he knew it would mean losing his life, is a constant reminder to me of what our brave men and women in the military have done for all of us. Happy Veterans Day.”

You can view Don’s Iowa State University online memorial that was written by an Iowa State University graduate student with information provided by Paul at the following link:  https://www.mu.iastate.edu/gold-star-hall/world-war-ii/don-griswold-jr/

Paul kindly shared some photographs of the event and of his uncle with the GFA.  Your uncle’s service and your family’s sacrifice is very much appreciated.
