Forty one Griswolds participated in the various events, getting a taste of Boston city life as well as some interesting genealogical insights. As usual, the visiting between “cousins” was a highlight of our weekend.
We arrived Thursday for Registration and were ready to tour on Friday morning, going by bus through Boston to the New England Historical/Genealogical Society. This beautiful building holds many treasures and had a special display of Griswold books in our honor.
After touring and lunch we bussed back to the hotel.
The Executive Board met Friday evening and we held our Business Meeting on Saturday morning, followed by a speaker from the Dedham Historical society, then a box lunch at the hotel.
Saturday afternoon saw us boarding the Boston Trolley which included a windy drive down the interstate to the city, attracting a lot of attention. We drove around the historic district of Boston, went through Cambridge and Harvard Square too.
Our evening dinner was at the Chateau Restaurant nearby which concluded our Reunion.
There was an optional tour on Sunday, Aug 7 of the John Alden homestead.
Fourteen Griswolds enjoyed an excellent tour from docent Trish Birk-Smith.
